Spend your October half term in Cambridge at our residential alternative to host family stay.
Revise where and when you want to.
The opportunity to be taken to interesting places, go shopping and have some relaxation time. (guidance permitting)
Bright World has run our half term programme at Cambridge Melchior College for several years now. October half term 2020 is going ahead but is going to be slightly different this year as we all adapt to the new normal.
Many boarding schools are telling us that they are still closing for the October half term and so this means that our international students, who are not able or do not wish to go home for half term need to stay under our care in the UK. Whilst host family stays are still on offer and are still the traditional choice for student holiday times, many students prefer a residential option where they can be more independent and have more time and space to relax and revise in their own space and in their own time.
Our residential Relax & Revise holiday programmes have their own Coronavirus Contingency Policy and plan which includes the provision of isolation facilities should a student fall ill during their stay. They will also offer medical assistance and will follow UK Government guidance, should students present with symptoms.
For the October half term, to ensure students remain safe and to avoid risk of infection, we are continuing to operate in a similar way we operated our Quarantine and Settling-In Programme, in terms of bedrooms and bathrooms. This means that there are very limited spaces on the programme to help ensure that students are sharing large rooms that are usually meant for 3 students plus, with their own ensuite bathroom.
Cambridge Melchior College is also putting special measures in place to keep the centre clean and disinfected throughout the stay. Students will be encouraged to wear masks if they would like to, there will be hand sanitising stations throughout and there is ample space within the college for students to remain socially distanced throughout their stay.
The Relax & Revise programme is supported by a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities in the afternoons and evenings. Many of these activities make use of the beautiful landscaped gardens on campus.
When not relaxing or revising, students have the opportunity of joining the group for exciting afternoon excursions. We will take students out as much as we can and will be following government guidance on the use of public transport and privately rented coaches. We will operate within the restrictions, whilst aiming to get students out and about as much as possible.
Meet Lottie Gale, the House and Student Activity Supervisor at CMC. Lottie really takes good care of our students and thoroughly enjoys making sure their half term is a safe, enjoyable and restful time.
