This lovely school is situated in the rural village of Upper Dicker in the heart of the Sussex countryside, close to the coastal resort of Eastbourne. The school is based on a former country estate with grounds extending over 80 acres /32 hectares, whose buildings form the core of teaching, activities and accommodation for students. The school campus has a unique, domestic feel, which forms a home from home for our students and creates a real sense of community and freedom. There are excellent sports facilities at Dicker. The centre welcomes up to 250 students per week from many different countries.
Most bedrooms have 2, 3 or 4 beds and have a bed and wardrobe and sometimes a study desk. Bathrooms are shared. Some boarding houses have their own communal spaces for students to relax.
Sports facilities include tennis courts, sports hall, swimming pool, gym, squash courts, basketball court, astro-turf, playing fields, drama theatre, dance studios and cricket nets.
Computer suite for access to internet (filtered) and email. Wi-fi is available. The Village Shop for drinks and snacks. Laundry is done for students at least twice each week.
Bede’s staff live in the same houses as the students and care for them 24 hours a day. Each boarding house has a dedicated house parent who is responsible for those students. There is access to medical careif students are sick.
This semi-intensive programme, with 22½ hours of lessons per week, is a perfect option for younger and older teenagers.
