Bright World is honoured to hold AEGIS Gold Standard Accreditation, the highest accreditation standard available for guardianships in the UK. This status was gained as the result of a rigorous independent inspection.
Accreditation is a stamp of approval from an impartial, external governing body, and is crucial for any organisation in any field. Bright World is passionate about doing our part to inform parents of what the AEGIS accreditation means and of the importance of choosing an AEGIS accredited guardian for your child.
It is vitally important that overseas parents know about AEGIS when choosing a guardian. This is the only accreditation that guardianship has and is rightly rigorous. Accreditation to Gold Standard is not easy to acheive and parents should be aware of this. I advise all parents to choose a company that has been inspected to ensure high standards are met and maintained. Lana Foster, CEO and former Vice Chair of AEGIS
AEGIS (Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students) is the sole independent accreditation body for UK guardianships. AEGIS follows a rigorous independent inspection and accreditation process to assess the quality and standard of care of guardianship organisations across the UK.
AEGIS’ purpose is to safeguard the welfare of international students studying in the UK and ensure they feel safe, welcome, and cared for. This also provides peace of mind to parents that children studying alongside AEGIS accredited guardianship organisations will receive the very highest standard of care.
“The service offered by this well-established organisation is professional and first class. The Bright World team enjoy working with and supporting young people and are highly successful in meeting their aims in ensuring that students are safe and happy while studying in the UK. Julie Chatkiewicz, Lead Inspector
AEGIS accreditation matters because it serves as a trusted and independent mark of quality and safeguarding. It is a hallmark of quality, safety, and professionalism in the guardianship sector, with AEGIS Gold Standard Accreditation being the most prestigious accolade a guardianship organisation can hold.
AEGIS accreditation ensures that guardianship organisations meet rigorous standards for child protection and safeguarding including background checks, staff training, emergency protocols, and welfare monitoring.
AEGIS is a reputable, trustworthy, and renowned organisation which provides parents with an assurance that AEGIS accredited guardians operate at a very high standard.
As part of the accreditation process, guardianship organisations are required to demonstrate their compliance with UK regulations, ethics, and best practices regarding the care of children and young people.
AEGIS accreditation involves a detailed and independent inspection process including interviews with staff, a detailed review of policies and procedures, and visits to host families. This comprehensive evaluation ensures guardianship organisations operate to the highest standards of care and safety.
AEGIS membership provides guardianship organisations with access to resources, training, and ongoing professional development opportunities, ensuring organisations uphold their high standard of care and supporting organisations with continually improving their services.
Guardianship Organisations who are members of AEGIS, refer to their Standards and are inspected against a comprehensive list of criteria that they must meet. Accreditation is awarded if requirements are fully met.
Some standards may not be legal requirements, but they are AEGIS requirements for best practice and it is necessary to meet all standards in order to gain AEGIS (re)accreditation. AEGIS seeks advice from safeguarding and legal experts in the writing of the standards.
In our most recent AEGIS inspection, carried out in June 2025, Bright World met every gold standard, and we are proud to have achieved a 100% score.

Bright World is one of the UK's leading Guardianship Organisations and has placed thousands of students into UK boarding schools since its foundation. Bright World operates from its Head Office in Sussex, UK, and has over 30 local coordinators across the UK.
With over 25 years' experience of working with students and host families, we are particularly proud of our ability to match students with host families successfully. We listen to parents when they enrol and throughout their guardianship stay and we also listen to students. By gaining information on their likes and dislikes, food preferences, and looking at their age and the profile of the host family, we consistently get it right.
Unlike many other guardianship organisations, we are proud to have AEGIS Gold Standard Accreditation, meaning our practises and processes have been thoroughly inspected and audited, enabling us to guarantee parents that we will act in your child’s best interests at all times and that students will receive the very highest standard of care under our guardianship.
