The Earlscliffe campus is formed of eight Victorian and Edwardian buildings, all recently renovated to provide high-quality teaching and residential facilities. Earlscliffe is within walking distance of the elegant Leas promenade and the beach; the town centre’s shops and the high-speed train link to London St Pancras.

Think Global!

Ages 13-17

By exploring global themes utilising 21st century learning skills, students enhance their language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) and gain the confidence to engage in discussions, debates, and challenges with their peers.

The weekly themes prompt critical thinking about pressing issues in the 21st century world. Students develop communication skills for debates and presentations, collaborate for competitive tasks, and unleash their creativity through projects like short movies and an online school magazine.

Sustainable Futures

Ages 14-17

The Sustainable Futures course is designed specifically for students who have a keen interest in sustainability and are passionate about contributing to the achievement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Topics include:

  • Our planet & reaching net zero
  • Our habits & living sustainably
  • The UN sustainability goals and how we can achieve them
  • Sustainable construction & materials

Mini MBA

Ages 15-17

This programme is for students looking for an inspirational, ambitious and relevant course which gives them the perfect introduction to the exciting and productive world of startups, business and global trade.

Experienced and dedicated academic staff will inspire students to look at the world through the eyes of an entrepreneur. From identifying and solving problems, to learning how global events impact local businesses, the Mini MBA™ is perfect for ambitious students who thrive under pressure and seek out challenges.

This course is ideal for committed students looking for a very different kind of summer course, who want to boost their CV and university applications by completing this rigorous and challenging programme. For students considering studying business, finance, management, economics or accounting at A-level, IB or undergraduate level, the Mini-MBA™ provides an intensive and comprehensive introduction.

Uni-Prep

Ages 15-17

The University Preparation course is for students who will soon be considering applying to universities. This higher level, skills-based course (20 hours per week) is designed to focus on all the independent learning skills required of an ambitious undergraduate and indeed to help some of our students seeking entry to the UK’s best universities.

This two week course includes:

  • Research skills, essay writing skills and note-taking skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Choosing appropriate universities and courses 
  • The Oxbridge entry process
  • Guided tour of the University of Oxford
  • Personal Statement guidance and interview technique
  • Application preparation – producing a CV
  • University life skills
  • Public speaking skills

Breaking Digital

Ages 14-17

This two week programme is designed to equip students with the skills and know-how to critically challenge and interpret information, data and news in order to arrive at a balanced view on global ‘big issues’. The course will also teach students how best to communicate creatively their own ideas and opinions to the widest target audience.

Topics include:

  • Breaking Text: Focusing on print media and article writing, this project replicates the hustle and bustle of a newsroom through a series of investigative journalism assignments. Students will create newspaper articles and podcasts involving real-life interviews with the public, other students, and staff. Additionally, students will act as ‘reporters’ at the Think Global debates.
  • Breaking Sound: Expanding the focus to issues within the 21st-century media landscape, this project involves collaboration to create a podcast focusing on global current affairs.
  • Breaking Image: Exploring the power of imagery, this project teaches how to evoke feelings and reactions in social media, journalism, and marketing.

Cultural experience

Earlscliffe offers two full days trips on Wednesdays and Sundays and evening bowling, laser tag or cinema trips.

An Earlscliffe highlight is a weekly trip to London when over the course of the summer students visit many of the following famous London landmarks: the Tate Modern; the London Dungeon; the London Eye; the Natural History Museum; Thames Boat Tour; the Tower of London; the V&A; the British Museum and Buckingham Palace.

Sunday visits may include: the world-famous cathedral city of Canterbury and river boat tour; ice-skating and Bluewater shopping centre; Thorpe Park theme park, Margate and Dreamland; Windsor Castle.
