how much does university guardianship cost?

university guardianship

If you are an international student applying to a UK university, and you are under the age of 18, you will most likely be asked to nominate an educational guardian prior to commencing your studies. This should be somebody who lives nearby the university, and can provide an emergency contact number. For students who do not have any family based in the UK, they will need to call on the services of a guardianship organisation, such as Bright World.

With so many different packages on offer from so many different providers, it can be difficult for students and parents to choose the most suitable option. That's why at Bright World we like to keep things simple. We understand that the needs of university students are very different from those at boarding schools, and we therefore devised two different packages, which we find cater perfectly for all overseas students.

The first option, Basic Guardianship, includes contact with one of our many Local Coordinators based across the UK, as well as access to our 24 hour emergency telephone service. You will also have a designated member of Head Office staff, Casper Jones, our Guardianship Care Manager (pictured), who will correspond with the university and confirm guardianship arrangements.

would you like us to visit you?

For students who require a little additional support, we also offer Full Guardianship. This provides all the features of Basic Guardianship, but also includes an arrival visit from our Local Coordinator. We find that this can be particularly helpful for students who are feeling more shy or nervous about beginning their studies in a new country. Our Local Coordinators, like all our staff, are DBS checked and have received extensive safeguarding training.

so, how much does it all cost?

Bright World's university guardianship service

Bright World's University Guardianship service is available at all UK universities. We will need the name of the halls of residence where our students will live, along with their emergency contact, prior to guardianship. We can offer guardianship for students in private accommodation but only if we are given the name of a supervising adult who will be responsible for their day to day care.

Bright World's boarding school guardianship

Bright World also offers guardianship at over 300 boarding schools across the UK. If you would like some more information about guardianship and how we can help you during the school holidays, then please get in touch.
