Bright World Buddy, Sarah Bradshaw, wins the first Wow Award of the year
We are only a few days into the new academic year and one of our Local Coordinators has already proven herself to be an invaluable asset to Bright World Guardianships. One of our returning students was heavily delayed on arrival at the airport due to the airline losing her luggage. Our driver waited with her and then took her onto school which was a few hours from the airport.

They arrived at the school at 1am and found the school in darkness with everyone asleep and no-one answering the door.
The driver acted quickly and called our 24/7 emergency helpline. Jenny Rumble, our Director of Safeguarding and Operations, was on duty and tried to connect with the student's regular host family. As it was so late at night, no-one answered the telephone. Jenny thought on her feet and called Sarah, the student's Bright World Buddy, who offered to take her in for the night. Sarah was happy to be disturbed in the middle of the night, made up a bed and waited for the student to arrive. We were able to tell the Parents overseas that their daughter was safe and sound in her Bright World Buddy's home by 2am. We then transported the student back to school the next morning.

I think it’s the worst day my daughter ever had in UK. Her luggage was lost at Heathrow Airport and has never been found, that was why she got to school later than expected. I am very grateful to the driver Ishfaq Ahmed who picked her up and accompanied her responsibly. I would also like to thank you and your company’s rescheduling. I would say “thank you” to Sarah Bradshaw that we disturbed her and her family in the early hours of the morning. I also want to thank my daughter for her strength, patience, courage and calmness. I want to thank all the people who worked so hard on this.
