Students enrolling will benefit from a specially reduced guardianship fee that has been negotiated with Rossall School on behalf of their overseas parents. Essential Guardianship: For students who will be returning home or staying with a family friend for the half term holidays, the Essential Guardianship option will be ideal. The cost for Essential Guardianship is £1,980 per annum payable in advance. For shorter term guardianship, termly charges will be £660 per term. We do not allow termly fee payments and fees must be paid for the duration of the academic year in advance. Emergency host family and travel assistance is available if needed and subject to extra charges as listed in the Optional Extra costs below. These will be charged as extra. Full Guardianship: For those students who need a regular host family and assistance with UK travel, in addition to our standard Guardianship service, the Full Guardianship option will be the ideal choice. An initial expenses fund deposit is collected at the beginning of the year to cover the costs of these extra services and a host family will be allocated in advance of the start of the school year. Parents will have access to our Host Family Selection Tool and will be able to help us to choose their host family. The cost for Full Guardianship is £2,385 per annum payable in advance PLUS £1,500 expenses fund. For shorter term guardianship, termly charges will be £795 per term plus £500 per term deposit. We do not allow termly fee payments and fees must be paid for the duration of the academic year in advance.

Services from your Guardianship Care Manager at our Head Office

All Rossall School students and their parents will know their Bright World Guardianship Care Manager, Simon King. As soon as you are enrolled and have paid for your programme our work begins. If you have chosen Full Guardianship, we will help you to choose a host family for the year ahead and start making arrangements for safe arrival transport. All parents will be able to contact Simon in working hours on any subject. Simon will also keep in regular contact with the school to update them on activity.

Services from your Bright World Buddy (Our Local Coordinator)

All Rossall School students will be introduced to our Local Coordinator for the area and school, Lauren Platt, before they arrive. Lauren will be available to them throughout the year to contact on any matter. Lauren will visit each student twice every year. All visits will be followed by a report uploaded to our Parent Portal, Blink.

Bright World can arrange airport transfers at the start and end of each term for all students. We can also offer transfers during the school year as requred.

Emergency host family stays for Essential Guardianship students

Although students on the Essential Guardianship programme will not require host family stay for the short school holidays, Bright World can help if a short-term host family is required. This may be because a student’s flight is arriving after the accommodation closes or before it opens on arrival in the UK. All host families are fully screened and inspected by us. This service is available at an extra charge.

Host Family accommodation for Full Guardianship students

As well as benefiting from emergency accommodation services, those students opting for our Full Guardianship programme, the allocation of a host family will be automatic. Rossall School has three half term holidays each year and we will choose a nearby host family according to your requirements. Parents and students can also browse our Host Family Selection Toolkit and help us to choose their preferred host family. Host family stays are subject to additional costs which will be taken from your disbursement expenses fund. Easter accommodation is available if requested in advance. Students are expected to return home during Christmas and Summer holidays.

Emergency assistance 24/7

During term times and over the short holidays and Easter, all students and their parents will have access to our Emergency telephone number and our out of hours email support service. This is managed by a Duty Manager who is a member of our Head Office Team and parents can be assured of a prompt and reliable service in times of need.

Blink for parents - your Bright World in the cloud

When you enrol on the Bright World Guardianship programme, you will automatically receive your login details to Blink. The bespoke cloud-based parent portal has been designed to match the needs of overseas parents so they can keep a close eye on their child's progress anytime they choose. Our clients (parents and their agents) benefit from the use of BLINK, our cloud-based parent portal where they can see a live timeline of our reports, visits and parents evenings feedback forms. Submit flight details, view your host family profile, Taxi Confirmations and driver profiles anytime. View, download and pay invoices and track your live guardianship expenses fund. The final feature allows users to filter through and browse our host family network across the UK.

Covid-19 Isolation Care Plan

If a school is not able to offer isolation into the holidays, or if they simply do not have the space and/or sufficient staffing levels to isolate a student safely in school during term time, then this presents a difficult situation and possibly a safeguarding concern for the student. At this point, Bright World will always step in and try to help with providing a risk assessed host family for the isolation period required. Costs will be taken from your expenses fund.

Lauren will attend Parents’ Evenings at a nominal extra charge (£80 plus travel) if required as extra. Lauren can also attend online for £30.

Rossall School and Bright World Guardianships

The majority of UK boarding schools require all overseas pupils to have a UK guardian. A guardian should be a responsible adult living in the UK who can be there in an emergency situation on behalf of parents. The importance of assigning a professional guardian for international students at UK boarding schools cannot be overestimated.

Rossall School is committed to ensuring the safety of all their students and therefore insists on students using a guardianship agency that is inspected and accredited by AEGIS (Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students) to Gold standard.

To assist parents with choosing an appropriate guardian, Rossall School has entered into a strategic partnership with Bright World Guardianships.

Bright World can offer a choice of two programmes to suit all students' needs and to ensure that safeguarding standards are met.

option 1 - Full Guardianship

This is our standard guardianship service and includes allocating a host family for holidays and arranging travel where needed.

Guardianship Fee 2024-2025

£795 per term plus £1,500 refundable expenses fund - please note that we require full payment for the academic year in advance. We do not allow termly payments. Click here to view our fees page for more information.

option 2 - Essential Guardianship

Where parents do not require host family accommodation during the holiday times then they can opt for a specially discounted Essential Guardianship Package.

This suits parents of students who intend for their child to travel back home during every holiday or to stay with a family friend in the UK. Where they stay with a family friend, Bright World will liaise with that friend and conduct ID checks and verification of arrangements in accordance with safeguarding requirements.

Essential Guardianship would be charged at £660 per term including VAT plus £200 refundable emergency fund

Emergency accommodation or travel will be invoiced as extra or taken from the £200 emergency lodgement if sufficient. please note that we require full payment for the academic year in advance. We do not allow termly payments.

If at any point you wish to change your mind and start to use our host family service we can upgrade your programme to Full Guardianship but will need the supplementary payment of fees to be settled and any expenses fund lodgement made prior to those arrangements being confirmed.
