Kings College London

Students at King's College London

King’s College is a world-famous prestigious university in the heart of London. It is consistently ranked among the top Universities in both the UK and the world. Lessons take place in the Virginia Woolf building, whilst meals and activities take place in the main building on the Strand, next to Somerset House.

Both Bucksmore London and the London Advanced Studies Program’s accommodation is based at the University of Notre Dame’s Conway Hall, located across Waterloo Bridge, less than a mile away from campus. Conway Hall consists of student apartments made up of twin and triple bedrooms, with shared kitchen, bathrooms and living areas.

All students are given a free travel-card for each week of their stay, and students will never travel between the accommodation and campus without supervision from a Bucksmore member of staff.

Intensive English Programme 13-16 & 16-18 year olds

King's College class

Over the course of the summer, students will put their language skills into practice through varied learning styles, including:

  • Language Study: The syllabus focuses on contemporary English through topics specifically designed for junior learners. Language study supplies the building blocks students need to communicate successfully with native and non-native speakers.
  • Language in Use: Students are put in real-life situations to develop fluency and communication skills, building students' confidence and knowledge of English.
  • Excursion Link Lessons: Before full-day excursions, students learn about the destinations they are about to visit, including the history and culture of the area.
  • Academic Skills: The academic skills classes give students an introduction to exam techniques to help students improve the skills of academic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. These classes culminate with students taking the Bucksmore Assessment.
  • Electives: Students sign up to a choice of vocational subjects to enhance their English usage through different topics such as creative writing, business and IELTS preparation.
  • Projects: Students are encouraged to work collaboratively on projects. Each weekly project ends with a presentation evening, during which all groups display and discuss their work.

Cultural Experience

Every Bucksmore Education programme is carefully designed to provide fun and educational excursions that allow students to further their studies outside of the classroom. Whether this may be a ride on the London Eye taking in the spectacular sights of Central London, a private tour of various Cambridge or Oxford Universities, or a coordinated sports session on site, our social programme will engage and absorb students into British culture and heritage, guarantee long-lasting friendships and offer plentiful opportunities for students to improve their English in real-life settings. The excursions will promote communication skills for the students, testing their English language skills with each other and with members of the public.
