Every year, the Bright World Guardianships annual conference brings together Local Coordinators and Head Office colleagues for a day of safeguarding, training and collaboration to ensure every student receives the highest standard of care.
As an AEGIS-accredited educational guardianship organisation, Bright World believes that investing in ongoing training and safeguarding is essential. Our annual conference ensures every member of our Team remains informed about developments affecting international students studying at UK boarding schools and universities, helping us continue to provide the highest standards of guardianship.

meet our Local Coordinators
At the heart of Bright World are our Local Coordinators, whose roles are as varied as they are rewarding.
During the conference, Local Coordinator Lindsay described a typical day as anything but typical. From visiting students and completing host family care plans, to attending parents' evenings, carrying out visits to UK boarding schools, and maintaining regular contact with students, every day presents new opportunities to provide support and reassurance.
For fellow Local Coordinator Jalpa, the highlight of the role is spending time with the students. Meanwhile, David, who supports schools across Essex, reflected on the importance of working alongside some of the UK's leading education providers while delivering a nationally accredited guardianship service to students and their families.
Together, these conversations highlighted the dedication and enthusiasm that Local Coordinators bring to every student they support.
I like going to see my students. It gets me out of my home environment, and chatting with young people, which I love.
sharing best practice across the UK
The conference is about much more than presentations. It provides an opportunity for colleagues to exchange ideas, share best practice and learn from one another.
Lindsay explained that one of her favourite parts of attending each year is seeing the latest company updates, learning from the annual statistics presentation, and meeting fellow Local Coordinators from across the country.
For colleagues attending for the first time, the conference also offers a valuable insight into the work taking place across our guardianship organisation. Bright World's Director of Admissions, Su Hayter, reflected on how rewarding it had been to discover more about the guardianship side of the business and everything that happens behind the scenes to support students, schools and parents.
It's just been amazing today to find out more about the guardianship side, which Bright World is so well known for, and find out all of what the Local Coordinators do, everything that's done behind the scenes to make it so smooth for the parents and schools.
safeguarding international students
One of the key focuses of every annual conference is safeguarding.
As Managing Director Su Warren explained, bringing everyone together each year allows the company to discuss developments across the sector, share safeguarding updates and ensure every member of the team remains informed and equipped for the year ahead.
These annual reviews help ensure every Bright World student receives consistent, high-quality support throughout the academic year while enabling schools and parents to feel confident that safeguarding standards remain exceptionally high.
Throughout the breakout sessions, conversations centred on how we can continue to maintain the highest standards of care, particularly when supporting international students living with host families and studying in the UK.
Reflecting on the day, CEO Lana Foster described one theme that stood out above all else.
"Walking around and listening to people... I felt there was a genuine feeling of caring for the children."
Those words perfectly captured the atmosphere of the conference. Whether colleagues were discussing safeguarding, student welfare, school partnerships or host family visits, every conversation came back to providing the very best support for every young person in our care.
It's great to see everybody, because our local coordinators are spread out all over the UK, so it's good that at least once a year we all get together, we talk about updates in the industry, and the safeguarding update which is one of the major reasons why we all get together.
looking ahead to the new academic year
As another successful conference drew to a close, colleagues returned home with new ideas, fresh perspectives and renewed enthusiasm for the year ahead.
Our annual conference is more than just an opportunity to share updates. It is a reminder that, although our teams are spread across the UK, we are all dedicated to ensuring every Bright World student feels safe, supported and cared for throughout their educational journey.
