Boarding School guardianship and host family service
Choose our professional, AEGIS accredited guardianship service. We can arrange host families for the school holidays, safe UK transportation and emergency assistance for unexpected events across the UK. Our Essential Programme offers a lower cost option for parents not needing such a comprehensive service.
University guardianship service
Many UK universities require parents to appoint a guardian for students under 17 when joining a university. Bright World offers a choice of packages for these parents and students.
what is educational guardianship?
Educational guardianship is a person or company in the UK who acts for overseas parents while their child studies here.
All UK boarding schools require overseas parents to appoint a responsible adult or organisation to act as educational guardian to their child. Universities also require a UK guardian for the under 17s.
The Bright World Guardianship programme offers a choice of programmes to suit all needs.
- Our Head Office team are fully trained and offer a liaison service between parents and schools.
- Our Local Coordinators are there to visit and offer extra support to our students face to face.
- Our host families provide a home from home for boarding school students who are not travelling back to their country for the holidays.
- Our professional drivers provide reliable airport transfers.
- Our Emergency 24/7 email and phone line offers an invaluable service to all overseas parents, students and schools.
Parents who do not need a host family or travel services can opt for our Essential guardianship package.

what is AEGIS?
AEGIS (Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students) is the UK’s sole independent accreditation body for international student guardianships. AEGIS follows a rigorous independent inspection and accreditation process to assess the quality and standard of care of guardianship organisations across the UK, with Gold Standard AEGIS accredited guardianship providers being at the very highest level.
AEGIS’ purpose is to safeguard the welfare of international students studying in the UK and ensure they feel safe, welcome, and cared for. This also provides peace of mind to parents that children studying alongside AEGIS accredited guardianship organisations will receive the very highest standard of care.
what the accreditation process involves
AEGIS accreditation follows a comprehensive process involving a detailed inspection of a number of areas of the organisation, including:
· Company structure, staff screening, and contracts;
· Host family selection and screening;
· Training and development;
· Driver screening and transportation safety;
· Comprehensive information for parents, students, schools, and overseas agents; and
· Robust policies, compliance, insurance, and risk mitigation.
The scrupulous standards set by AEGIS and the thoroughness of their inspection processes demonstrate the significance of an organisation earning AEGIS Gold Standard Accreditation.
At Bright World, we are staunchly dedicated to upholding these high standards. Every aspect of guardianship, from host family selection and training and data protection, is meticulously managed to ensure every student receives the highest possible standard of care and support during their educational journey in the UK.
Guardianship organisations are re-inspected by AEGIS every four years. In between inspections, Bright World constantly reviews its standards against the AEGIS handbook which is updated at least twice per year. Our next inspection is due in June 2029.
